Do our desires overcome reality? – part 2

part 1 click here

A quote taken from a book called: The Almanack of Naval Ravikant

The concept of reality has been on my mind lately. I am trying to grasp it as a point of principle. Things are what they are, not what I want them to be, and by things I mean, a table is a table, and not what I desire it be, because no matter what creative element is applied to it, it serves the same function, it is used to place things on.

I take this when dealing with human beings. theres always a preconceived notion of who someone is, what their intentions are and what I think of them, but I will only know what they actually are when having a decent conversation with them, and as the old saying goes, to break bread with them.

They are, in reality, a human being and nothing more. when they do bad things, it does not make them the entirely bad, and when they do good things, they are not entirely good. very cliched i know, but our brains seem to quickly jump to those conclusions, we need to accept the rational reality and control our reactions. No matter how bad they seem to be, I won’t jump to a desirable conclusion that they are the devil, and on the flip side, no matter how bad they are, I don’t jump onto the conclusion that they are an angel.

They are a human being having an experience in the real world and nothing more.
