Do our perceived expectations define our sense of self?

a quote taken from the book called; the almanack of naval ravikant.

there are limiting words and phrases that cause us tension. these include

  • i should/shouldnt
  • i have to
  • i must
  • i better

these words give us a delusion that we have no choice but to do what is of expectation, what is enforced by the enviromenment. and by this i mean;

  • culture
  • religion
  • society
  • political correctness

all these rigid structures cause us tension in a sense that we lose our indiviudality for the acceptance of the collective.

this imaginary fear of expulsion limits our creative ability, and also keeps dormant who we actually are, and in my case, inhibits that childhood curiosty and adventerous nature in favor of a more pragmatic and rational mind. why not both?

why not allow that childhood creativity to be activated whilst using your life experiences as a way to navigate through that creativity and try to manifest that in the real world.
